SUMMER 2023 UPDATE: As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and in order to maintain the safety of our students and instructors, this summer's Latin Workshop will again be conducted remotely. Click here to see a description of the remote format. After the success of last summer's remote workshop, our instructors are confident in their ability to maintain the rigor, engagement, and enjoyment of this course. If you have any questions, please email the director, Claire Healy, at claire.healy@berkeley.edu
The Latin Workshop is offered through UC Berkeley Summer Sessions and runs for ten weeks from June 5 to August 11, 2023. No previous knowledge of Latin is required. The course covers Latin grammar in the first six weeks; the last four weeks are devoted to reading works of Latin literature in the original. Full attendance is required. By University policy, auditors are not permitted. Registration for Summer 2023 will open on February 15th for non-UC Berkeley students!
The tuition cost, as determined by UC Berkeley Summer Sessions, varies depending on status (UC undergraduate, UC graduate student, visiting student). Details can be found here; please note that the Workshop is a ten-unit course. There will be up to eight fellowships each providing a $3,000 rebate from tuition costs. Application instructions for the fellowships, and deadline information, can be found here.
